Daejeon, South Korea/ January 14, 2025 – Therazyne Inc. (CEO Byung-Ha Oh) and Biorevert Inc. (CEO Choong-Hwan Lee) announced today that they have signed a joint research and development agreement on January 14, 2025, to develop new cancer therapeutics.
Therazyne was founded by Professor Byung-Ha Oh of the Department of Biological Sciences at KAIST, a distinguished professor in structural biology and protein design. The company conducts research and development to discover various therapeutic proteins, including antibodies, or improve the performance of existing proteins based on computational protein design. Its main pipeline includes immuno-oncology antibody therapeutic candidates targeting antigens specifically expressed in cancer cells.
Biorevert was founded by Professor Kwang-Hyun Cho of the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST, a world-renowned pioneer in systems biology. The company has gained recognition for discovering novel and first-in-class reversible anti-cancer targets for various cancers, including colorectal, lung, and breast cancer. Biorevert possesses the MObyDICK platform, based on AI and systems biology, and uses it to conduct research identifying novel innovative drug targets and elucidating their mechanisms of action for various diseases.
Biorevert, specializing in the discovery of novel targets, and Therazyne, specializing in protein-based drug development, have joined forces to develop new anti-cancer drugs. Through this joint research and development agreement, they plan to develop protein therapeutics based on innovative novel reversible anti-cancer targets discovered by Biorevert. Therazyne will derive candidate substances through AI-based protein design and biochemical experiments, and thereafter, both companies will conduct animal testing to co-develop new drug candidates. This collaboration is expected to maximize the synergy between the two companies in developing new anti-cancer drugs.
